About Indy Junior Golf Camp Programs
The Indy Junior Golf Camp Program was created in 2012 as a compliment to the Indianapolis Junior Golf Tour Program to introduce young people of all backgrounds to the game of golf and it’s inherent values. Through the camp experience participants are introduced to a series of life skills through golf activities and interactive life skill experiences related to golf. This is an activity based program making learning an enjoyable experience. The curriculum of life skills includes self management, interpersonal skills setting goals and resilience skills.
The life skills experience is an unique approach to teaching sports skills in that life skills are apart of each lesson plan as opposed to assuming that values and skills are delivered by participation in a sport. This approach strives to instill in each participant those core values honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgement.
The camp director and coach , Coach Robertson, has experience in the First Tee Program of Indianapolis and is a certified Level III Coach. Coach Robertson was the former director of the Glen Howard West program serving over ninety participants per year in Wayne Township. Coach Robertson is a retired Athletic Administrator (CAA) -A NFHS Certified Coaching Educational Instructor and has 37 years of Coaching and the administration of IHSAA Sports.
